Customs Entry Writer

Job Description:

Customs Entry Writer will perform a high volume of customs clearance processes, provide excellent customer service and communication, and be responsible for final delivery of customer cargo. Position requires strong individual customs entry processing skills and knowledge of proper classifications (FDA, PGA, HTS, and ACE) and government agencies.


  • Process Import documents to obtain U.S. Customs clearance
  • Invoice customers, manage account receivables and payables
  • Logistics solution through communication with vendors, ocean carriers, airlines, terminals, custom brokers, importers and exporters
  • Ensure payment of various import fees to vendors
  • Coordinate timely delivery of freight to ultimate destination through contracted vendors/carriers
  • Submit local and remote entries via ocean, rail, air, and border crossing shipments with CBP and any other government agencies involved i.e., FDA, USDA, FCC, EPA, F&W, DOT
  • Handle government exams, i.e., MET, XRAY, IBET, T-CET and AQI exams
  • Go to warehouse transfers and clearance
  • Resolve any import/domestic issue with clients and create satisfactory solutions to ensure services are met with customer satisfaction
  • Scanning, photo copying, filing, and other duties as needed


  • Familiar with Ocean/Air Classification Codes – HTS/FDA/FCC and others
  • Experience with Import Entry procedures, rules, and regulations for Air/Ocean
  • Editrade experience a plus
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Able to work in high-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Great organization skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2+ years Entry Writing import ocean/air experience
  • Proficient with PC, Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, office equipment
  • High School Diploma / AA or Bachelor’s degree, a plus
