Director of Sales

Job Purpose: As a dynamic, driven, and top-performing Director of Sales, you will be responsible for prospecting new customers and closing new business within the medium-large size segment. Initiative coupled with a growth mindset, and the ability to stay focused on results despite changing conditions, are the keys to achieving the performance objectives of this role. The Director of Sales orchestrates involvement of multiple stakeholders, so that pain points are uncovered, and tailored solutions are developed. The Director of Sales will be supported by modern technology, investments in mentorship and development, and proprietary sales processes. These tools in combination with targeted leads with a high-velocity sales process will gear you up for success! This position reports to the VP of Sales.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Effectively executes sales activities and maintains a pipeline to generate revenue to meet or exceed net revenue goals and expectations in our multiple services and verticals (Military, eCommerce, Pharma, Perishables)


Ability to produce, qualify, and target new prospective clients to add to our existing portfolio in an effort to build and maintain a robust business funnel


Timely updates and data entry in our Customer Relationship Management platform


Orchestrates customer/Able’s internal relationships and collaborate with local and regional subject matter experts


Establishes multiple contacts and builds relationships at multiple levels and functional teams within prospects, developing advocates within a customer’s organization to strengthen relationships


Understands and stays informed of the customers’ business, industry, and sector, and applies that knowledge to identify opportunities and articulate where we can provide value within the customer’s supply chain


Participates in the creation of value-added solutions for customer’s logistics needs, including supporting presentation materials and cost-benefit calculations


Supports the transition of new accounts through customer introductions, information transfer, and securing any necessary customer paperwork. When needed, support our collection’s efforts (A/R).


Attends training & development sessions to continue developing selling skills and updating Able’s services knowledge


Involvement in local trade groups, as approved by Upper Management and VP of Sales


Takes on additional assignments as required, supporting company needs

 

Qualifications:

Demonstrated negotiation and sales strategies experience

Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills

Strong problem solving and organizational skills

Ability to work both individually and collaboratively in a team environment

Sense of urgency for goal achievement

Self-motivated with ability to work in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment

Strong rapport and relationship-building focused

Ability to meet with customers off-site on a regular basis


Education and Experience:

  • Five to ten years’ experience in a freight forwarding environment
  • International air freight with export and import experience preferred
  • Previous experience with temperature-controlled freight preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferred
